Susan Tanyi, MD

Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, Susan Tanyi, MD, is a primary care physician specializing in accessible, equitable healthcare. She practices in Katy, Texas, where she leads League Health Urgent & Primary Care as its founding partner and CEO. 

Dr. Tanyi has been practicing medicine for over a decade as both a patient-facing physician and a medical practice physician leader. In every role she holds, Dr. Tanyi strives to make every patient feel seen, heard, and understood. She empowers patients through empathy.

The daughter of Cameroonian parents, Dr. Tanyi was born in Lubbock, Texas, but spent most of her youth in Cameroon. There, she experienced the limitations of a severely broken healthcare system. Witnessing these inequities and their terrible results inspired her to pursue a career in medicine; she wanted to effect transformational change within the healthcare system and deliver affordable, high-quality healthcare to patients, particularly those who have faced barriers in the past.

Dr. Tanyi began her education at the University of Massachusetts in Boston, Massachusetts, where she graduated with honors in three years and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. 

Next, she earned her medical degree and graduated with honors from Ross University School of Medicine in Barbados. Finally, she completed her family medicine residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. 

Dr. Tanyi abides by five key principles of care: providing remarkable care experiences, providing cost-effective healthcare solutions, creating access to all, building better provider-patient and team relationships, and empowering others to live healthier, happier lives. 

When she isn’t working, Dr. Tanyi enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and two daughters around their home in Richmond, Texas. She also spends her free time traveling, exploring nature, writing, listening to music, and studying Christian philosophy and apologetics.
